The Gaza War: Day 175 . . . The War in the North

Yom Shishee

UPDATE 9:00 AM

Israel switched to summer time overnight.

The Nauseating Decision of the Day

If you can believe this, the photograph that won first place in the renowned Picture of the Year (POY) journalism contest this year was one taken by the AP terrorist “photographer” embedded in the HamISIS terrorists on October 7th.

The photo is indecent in the extreme and will not be reprinted here.

Ali Mahmud’s “winning” photograph was of HamISIS terrorists celebrating in the back of a pickup truck over the naked corpse of Israeli Shani Louk.

Just unbelievable.

Also Nauseating

Video released by the IDF yesterday shows an Islamic Jihad terrorist calmly recounting how he raped a woman in an Israeli kibbutz on October 7th.

Claiming that “Satan” overcame him, he described in graphic how he threw her down, stripped her, and raped her.

He said that afterward, other terrorists took her and her mother away to Gaza.

Sickening.

The Long-Awaited Decision of the High Court of Justice

Once again, the leftist Court has sided with our abominable Attorney General. Yesterday it issued a decision that may well undermine the Coalition government and bring about early elections.

Specifically, it ruled that all Israeli citizens (except Arab-Israelis) must be subject to the draft–unless they receive a deferment or exemption.

The ruling directly targets the ultra-orthodox who attend yeshivas.

Further, the Court ruled that no government money should be allotted to yeshivas whose students do not report for the draft. This means that students who do not have a deferment or exemption and are supposed to report on April 1 and afterwards–and do not–will have their yeshivas sanctioned. The Court says that budgetary sanctions should not take place until August to give the yeshivas time to adjust to the new situation.

As you can imagine the ultra-orthodox are threatening to leave the government; however, by giving the August deadline, the Court has also given PM Netanyahu time to come up with another solution.

On the Ground in Gaza

*The Nahal Brigade, Shayetet 13, and soldiers from the 401st Brigade continue battling terrorists in the Shifa Hospital compound. Yesterday, terrorists opened fire from both the maternity department and the emergency room area.

In the middle of the firefights, our soldiers worked to evacuate patients and other civilians from the scene.

One terrorist who was killed while trying to escape was Ra’ad Thabat, the head of the personnel staff of HamISIS. Thabat was considered as one of the top HamISIS leaders in Gaza. Another 5 senior HamISIS leaders were apparently captured–they have yet to be identified.

Thus far more than 200 terrorists have been killed in the ongoing Shifa operation; another 800 have been detained with 500 positively identified as Islamic Jihad and HamISIS terrorists.

*Based on satellite photos, it is apparent that the IDF is establishing a de facto 1 km wide buffer zone along the Gaza border. The zone will encompass approximately 15% of the land area of Gaza.

On the Ground in the North

*Numerous Hezbollah missiles hit Shlomi and Moshav Goren.

*Israel carried out a large scale IAF raid in the area of the airport in Aleppo, Syria overnight. The main targets were ammunition depots and a fuel tank belonging to Iranian proxy terror organizations. It is being reported that 39 were killed including Syrian soldiers and 5 Hezbollah terrorists.

In Judea and Samaria

A follow up to the shooting attack by a Palestinian terrorist yesterday on the car and bus near Baka’a:

*The terrorist has been identified as a member of the Palestinian (PLO) police from Jenin.

*Those wounded in the car were left-wing activists who were going to the Jordan Valley to demonstrate against Israel.

*The terrorist remains at large this morning. The Palestinian settlement of Ojah has been closed off.

A follow-up to the Bidenite sanctioning of 7 Israeli community members:

Following FM Minister Smotrich’s decision to remove legal protections from Bank Hapoalim and Discount Bank because of their adherence to Bidenite policy concerning the seizure and closure of the bank accounts of the 7 Israelis, the Biden Administration relaxed its sanctions on the 7 yesterday.

A new Biden directive says that family and business accounts of the seven should not be sanctioned by Israeli banks–and the banks will not be penalized for keeping those accounts open.

In short, this is a major Bidenite backtrack.

Kolakevod to FM Smotrich.

Some Good Israel Medical News

Israeli scientists have developed a new blood test (AD-Detect) that can diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease in its very early stages.

According to the Medical Link Company: “This is a simple blood test based on the identification of protein deposits called amyloid, the accumulation of which in the brain damages the communication between the nerve cells, causes the destruction of the brain tissue and indicates Alzheimer’s disease.”

In the Mako report on this breakthrough, Prof. David Tana is quoted. Tana is an expert in neurology, director of the Institute for Stroke and Cognition at Rambam, former chairman of the Neurological Association, who serves as a consultant to Medical Link, and says that “now neurologists can diagnose Alzheimer’s disease accurately and at an early stage using biological markers, and not only using methods clinics that have been used until today. This is the beginning of a revolution in the field. The early detection can help in the process of examining suitability for receiving drug treatment at a stage when it may still be effective and encourage a change in lifestyle in order to delay the progression of the disease.”
